Daily Care & Play
What's their day like?
Our staff arrive in the morning and take pets out to the fenced in play yards. While they are out the kennels are stripped down. All bedding and bowls are removed. Lodgings are cleaned. Clean blankets and fresh bowls of water are set up and breakfasts are served. Your pet comes in to a clean space and a yummy meal. There is a mandatory rest after all meals.
Dogs who are in our daycare program, and other boarding guests who have been evaluated for group play, join their groups. Solos start going out to get their time for fun in the sun. Services such as outdoor walks, private pool time, fetch, lure coursing and more are provided through the day. Water bowls are refreshed, and pets come in for mid day rest time. All dogs have a snout to tail health check once each shift.
The process repeats with another opportunity to go outside the afternoon, dinners, ending the day with pre-bedtime outside time and snuggles before lights out.
Can my dog play while they are boarding?
We can evaluate your dog for group play. There is more on our evaluations on the daycare page. We keep a friends list for our guests so when they return we have wonderful notes. We have guests who play with same buddies multiple times a year while they stay.
My dog doesn't like to play with dogs, do they still get to go outside?
Yes! Our solo guests get just as much time out as all others. We have many roomy and safe fenced in play yards so we can have groups and singles enjoying their time too!
Health & Medications
My dog takes medication. Can you do that?
Yes. We do administer medications. There is a daily fee of $3 per pet which covers all medications and doses needed. We prefer medications in their original Rx container. Some owners send exactly enough for their stay and that's fine too. We will need to see the RX, or a receipt from your vet listing that medication is for them. We inventory medications on arrival, write down your exact instructions. Medications are administered at 7 am and 7 pm, please call us if you have medications that may need to be given at unusual times, or injectables, so we can determine if we are able to meet your needs. We have pill pockets, and assorted other bribes from cheese to sardines. Let us know if your pet has preferences or sensitivities. Do not send peanut butter. We have employees with allergies.
What if my pet has an emergency?
We have outstanding safety procedures in place and a trained and observant staff and while they are rare, medical emergencies and accidents can happen. We provide first aid. We determine if we feel a veterinary visit is needed and the owner is called either way. If a veterinary visit is needed, we then determine with the owner if they are coming to pick up their pet, or if we are transporting to the vet. If we are unable to reach the owner and we feel a trip to the veterinarian is needed, we contact the veterinarian of the owner's choosing, if they are local, and make the arrangements. At the same time we are trying to contact the emergency contact listed in the client file. If they do not have a local veterinarian, we choose a veterinary practice. In the event of an extreme emergency such as bloat, we will act first and call you asap. Our staff is trained in Pet first aid and CPR. We can provide basic first aid care only as we are not a veterinary practice. We do have a good relationship with local veterinary practices. Please be sure our contact information for you is current, we have multiple ways to reach you and you have an emergency contact on file for us as well as a designated veterinarian.
Food & What to Bring
Can I bring my own food?
Yes. Your pet can eat your food or ours. We have freezer and refrigerator space for fresh items. We can scoop out your kibble or canned product to your exact specifications. Please do not send individually bagged meals for dry kibble. It creates a lot of terrible for the planet trash when we can easily and accurately measure out from the original bag it comes in or a smaller reusable type of container.
What kind of food does the kennel serve?
We serve FROMM Classic Adult. This is a made in the USA chicken and rice dry kibble.
What should I bring?
Own food if you would like. Favorite toys and chews are welcome. Medications your pet needs for their stay. We do not need bowls (we have many and they are picked up for washing after every meal), we have plenty of measuring cups. We do not accept bedding from home, we have many types and it's changed daily for fresh. Please do not bring peanut / peanut butter items as we have staff with allergies.
